Tree, wood and hedgerow protection

A TPO is made by the council to protect specific trees, groups/areas of trees and woodlands in the interests of amenity.

Forestry Act 1967

Trees outside gardens, orchards, churchyards or designated open space are covered by the Forestry Act 1967.

In any annual quarter up to five cubic metres can be felled without a licence as long as no more than two cubic metres are sold.
