A TPO is made by the council to protect specific trees, groups/areas of trees and woodlands in the interests of amenity.
Trees in Conservation Areas are automatically protected if they have a stem diameter greater than 75mm when measured at 1.5m above ground level. Six weeks written notice must be served on the council if someone wishes to carry out works, (except where exemptions apply).
Maps showing the extent of Conservation Areas can be found on our 'maps online' page.
A tree works form and associated guidance can be downloaded from our planning application forms section.
