Public Rights of Way Management and Improvement Plan 2016-2026

The Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 placed a duty on all highway authorities to produce a Public Rights of Way Improvement Plan for their area.

This is a 10-year strategic document and is the prime means by which the Council and its partners will identify and implement improvements to the local rights of way and access network. It is a wide-ranging plan, covering all aspects of the management and improvement of the network to meet the current and future needs of the public.

The first Public Rights of Way Improvement Plan ran from 2005 to 2015. The new plan will cover the period from 1 January 2016 until 2026.
