Adopted neighbourhood plans

The Hurley and the Walthams Neighbourhood Plan has been produced by volunteers from the local community for the parishes of Hurley, White Waltham, Waltham St Lawrence and Shottesbrooke. The Plan includes a vision and a suite of policies which apply to a range of development types in the neighbourhood area.

The Hurley and the Walthams neighbourhood plan was formally adopted by the borough council on 12 December 2017.

Background and associated documents

The Hurley and the Walthams Neighbourhood Plan has been examined by an independent examiner.

The referendum was held on 23 November 2017 with a 81% vote in favour to make the neighbourhood plan part of the development plan for the borough and to be used in making decisions on planning applications in the neighbourhood area.

The documents relevant for the referendum were:

• Proposed neighbourhood plan
• The independent examiner’s report
• Summary of any representations submitted to the independent examiner
• Decision Statement of the Local Planning Authority are satisfied that the draft plan meets those basic conditions as required in paragraph 8 (2) of Schedule 4B of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and complies with the provision made by or under Sections 38A and 38B of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004.
• Statement that sets out general information as to town and country planning (including neighbourhood planning) and the referendum, which is prepared having regard to any guidance issued by the Secretary of State.
