Please find below the guidelines on where you can use your blue badge and any rules that apply.
On all occasions you must display your badge face up, alongside the parking clock on your dashboard. The clock should be set showing the time of arrival. All information on the badge and clock must be clearly visible from the outside of the vehicle.
You must always check any restrictions before parking.
The blue badge is not a licence to park anywhere. If you park where it would cause an obstruction or danger to other road users you could be fined, receive a Penalty Charge Notice or have your vehicle removed. Please do not park where it would inconvenience or obstruct pedestrians or other road users.
Examples of dangerous or obstructive parking include the following - please note that this is not the full list:
- School entrances, bus stops, on a bend, near the brow of a hill or humpback bridge.
- Entrances to hospitals, fire stations or other emergency vehicles parking or manoeuvring areas
- Pedestrian crossings including the zig-zag lines.
- Opposite a traffic island or roadworks where it would make the road narrow.
- Parking opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, unless you are in an authorised parking space.
- Where it would hold up traffic, blocking vehicle entrances or narrow roads.
- Where the kerb has been lowered or the road raised to help wheelchair users on a pavement, unless specific signs allow this.
- On a pavement unless signs permit it.
