Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) form part of the Local Development Framework (LDF).
On Wednesday 4th December 2024 the Council adopted the Affordable Housing Delivery Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).
The SPD provides more detailed guidance to support the implementation of the affordable housing policy requirements in the Borough Local Plan. It includes guidance on issues relating to the amount, type, tenure and location of affordable housing, and addresses issues relating to development viability and how affordable housing provision should be integrated into the planning application process.
The SPD replaces the Affordable Housing Planning Guidance (December 2016) and the Vacant Building Credit Advisory Note (September 2018). It is a material consideration in the determination of planning applications.

The SPD is accompanied by an online financial contributions calculator to provide a consistent and effective means of securing financial contributions to affordable housing provision when, in exceptional circumstances, on-site affordable housing provision is not possible.
