Leisure Focus to host community celebration as new contract begins

Borough residents are set to enjoy a weekend of activities, including family pool parties and a Comic Con event, to mark the start of a new 15-year leisure contract

A weekend of activities across the borough is planned by Leisure Focus, as part of a ‘Grand Community Celebration’, from Friday 4 April to Sunday 6 April - with all money raised from the activities benefiting their Active Communities programme.

Councillors and officers from the Royal Borough met with trustees from Leisure Focus on Tuesday to mark the start of the new contract, which will see a rebrand and design of the gyms at Braywick, Furze Platt, Charters and Cox Green, and the addition of new sports facilities at Dedworth Middle School.

An installation of a new soft play area, more studio spaces at Braywick, extended opening hours at Cox Green, and new Padel courts at Windsor are also planned.

As a charity any surplus raised by Leisure Focus Trust is put back into the facilities available to borough residents.

The council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Leisure, Councillor Jack Douglas, said: “The new leisure contract is fantastic news for residents, because it goes further than ever before to improve inclusion and break down barriers to healthy living and having fun.

"We’re committed to helping our communities become more active and have been working hard with Leisure Focus to improve what is on offer for residents to enjoy.  We’re excited about the wave of improvements that we will see across our centres thanks to this multi-year deal."
