Ascot residents able to use alternative recycling centre

Borough residents with an SL5 postcode will be able to use Lyne Community Recycling Centre in Chertsey, thanks to the Royal Borough reaching an agreement with Surrey County Council.

This follows the decision to close the centre at Swift Lane by the county council, after concerns around location and size, meaning the centre will close on Tuesday 11 March.

Residents will be able to use the new site in Lyne, which is larger and has more modern facilities and is nearer than the alternative facilities at Stafferton Way in Maidenhead, and Chalvey in Slough.

Councillor Richard Coe, Cabinet Member for Household and Regulatory Services, said: “Whilst we are disappointed about the closure of Swift Lane, we’re pleased to have made a deal so residents in the south of the Borough will be able to use the upgraded Lyne Recycling Centre in its place.

“The site has improved facilities and is open on an extra day a week for longer hours than the old site. It is also a similar distance from home for most RBWM residents in the south of the Borough.”

Lyne Community Recycling Centre is open from 8am to 4pm on Monday to Wednesday and from 9am to 4pm on weekends. Residents in the SL5 postcode who previously had access to the Swift Lane site will be able to use the new site from Wednesday 12 March.
