Funded by developer contributions and a government grant, the proposals include a new pedestrian crossing at St Leonard’s Road, a narrower junction at the entrance to Stag Meadow and green spaces for local people to enjoy.
The plans also tie into the council’s desire to enhance the existing walking and cycling routes connecting the Thames River to Windsor Great Park.
Councillor Geoff Hill, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport and the Customer Service Centre, said: “Residents have raised concerns about the safety of crossing St. Leonard's Road into Stag Meadow, as well as on the side road at the entrance which is currently a wide junction.
“Our goal is to make the route safer for school children – and indeed everyone – by improving crossings, introducing spaces for cycling and simplifying the junction. It also includes plans for green spaces with areas to rest and enjoy.”
