Impressive artwork from talented local students is on display in Maidenhead Town Hall following a competition involving Maidenhead schools. The artwork was created as part of Norden Farm’s Maidenhead Schools Exhibition, held in 2023.
The selected pieces all received awards and high praise from the judging panel. The exhibition featured artwork from students from Altwood C of E School, Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA), Holyport College and Newlands Girls School.
Four pieces and are now on display on the second floor of the Town Hall until at least the end of February.
The artworks on display are:
Breaking Through by Grace Allen, Newlands Girls’ School, the Painting and Drawing winner.
Elevator by Eve Garrity, Newlands Girls’ School, the Painting and Drawing runner-up.
Transcendent by Lemuel Kadhani, Holyport College, textiles and multimedia.
Red Strings and Unconnected Things by Blue Harding, BCA, mixed media on black card.
Councillor Joshua Reynolds, Cabinet Member for Communities and Leisure, said: “We’re proud to have these fantastic pieces of artwork on display at Maidenhead Town Hall. The talented young artists have done great work and we’re delighted to be able to present them at the Town Hall.
“We’re excited to be using the space in the Town Hall to showcase artwork from local young people, and are looking at continuing this in the future, giving our talented local artists a platform for their work.”
Councillor Simon Werner said: “We’re thrilled to be able to display these pieces. The idea came from my daughter Jessamine, who was so impressed with the artwork at the exhibition that she thought it should be shown more widely.
“It’s great to see the creativity of local Maidenhead pupils on public display at Town Hall. I’d like to see more art on display here from local artists, particularly young people in the future.”
The Norden Farm Exhibition ran last autumn and showcased art from a range of mediums, from animated videos, lino printing, oil and acrylic paintings, embroidery work and sculptures.
