A308 Braywick Roundabout to close overnight for essential resurfacing

Essential maintenance work to resurface parts of the A308 Braywick Roundabout, between Windsor and Maidenhead, will take place on Tuesday 23 July.
Braywick Roundabout

The work is an important investment by the Royal Borough in the future of this strategically important road link and is scheduled to take place overnight, requiring the closure of the roundabout on Tuesday 23 July 2024, between the hours of 9pm and 6am on the Wednesday morning.

The project is weather dependent and thus the programmed start and completion dates may change. Any changes will be notified on the advance warning signs that will be placed on site.

Two weeks prior to work taking place, advance warning signs will be placed at strategic locations on all approaches. This is to give road users normally using the routes information to be able to plan journeys and routes on the evening in question and make alternative arrangements where appropriate.

A diversion will help to manage traffic flows in the local area during the period when the closure is in place. This includes the management of both motorway and non-motorway traffic which would normally access to and from the A308(M) spur.

•    Diversion route for M4 traffic will be via A404M, A4, A308 or J7, A4, A308
•    Diversion route for A308 traffic towards Maidenhead will be: A308, A332, A355, A4, A308
•    Diversion route for A308 traffic towards Windsor will be: A308, A4, A355, A332, A308

Councillor Geoff Hill, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “The work on Braywick Roundabout, a key junction in the Royal Borough, has been timed to minimise impact on road users.

“And we would like to thank residents in advance for their patience during this period, which will help ensure that the contractor is able to complete the works as quickly as possible and with minimum inconvenience.

“This resurfacing work is an essential part of the council’s road maintenance programme, and is being undertaken by Volker Highways, the council’s highways contractor. The resurfacing will extend the life of the road surface and help reduce future maintenance requirements.”
