A brief history
The museum collection began in 1951, when local man Maitland Underhill decided to create an exhibition about the history of Windsor, as part of the celebrations for the National Festival of Britain. The exhibition proved so popular, it remained on display in the Guildhall until 1982. The Museum was reopened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in the Guildhall in 2011.
We are currently open on Tuesdays 10am-4pm and admission is free to all. Guided tours of Windsor Guildhall are available for a small fee.
Smaller museum displays can be found at Maidenhead Library, Maidenhead Town Hall, and Cox Green Library.

For King and Country Project
The National Lottery Heritage Fund supported us to research and record the First World War history in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. We held roadshows in our local communities, school visits and worked with a large number of volunteers to gather and record First World War memorials.
