Join the library

If you are not already a library member, you can join at any of our libraries or join online.

We are now issuing library cards as digital only unless a customer requests that they would like a physical card.
Users will need to download our Library App after joining online if they wish to use their digital membership. 

Along with our partner libraries in the SELMS consortium, we will be undergoing an upgrade and data migration that will affect how we operate over the next 10 weeks. As part of this, we will need to temporarily suspend SELMS reservations from Friday 24 May. We will post further updates as this upgrade progresses. We thank you for your patience in advance. Borrowing and downloading items

To activate your card, sign it and read the library terms and conditions.

• You can borrow up to 30 items and also download up to 10 audiobooks and ebooks at a time.
• You can also download an unlimited number of eNewspapers and eMagazines, and stream up to 10 documentaries and films a month.
• If it's more convenient, you can return items to a different borough library, or a library of one of our SELMS partners.
• We encourage you to bring your membership card when using the library; however, items can be issued if you show proof of your identity/address. There is a charge to replace membership cards.
• You will need your membership card to use library computers and self service kiosks.
• Show your advantage card and we'll update your record; automatic discounts apply when you borrow certain items or use computers.
