Term dates in the Royal Borough
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead sets the term dates for:
- community schools.
- voluntary controlled schools.
The following types of schools are responsible for setting their own term dates, although most do still use the borough's term dates:
- academies.
- free schools.
- voluntary aided schools.
A number of these schools do have different dates to the borough, so please check directly with your school. You can find their contact details by searching in our schools directory.
Inset days
Inset (or teaching training days) are set by individual schools, and pupils do not usually attend school on these days. Please contact your school direct for its inset day dates.
The first day of the Autumn term is generally an inset day for all schools.
Term dates in other local authorities
The Royal Borough works with neighbouring local authorities so that term dates match across the region as far as possible. You can find the term dates of these local authorities on their websites:
- Bracknell Forest Borough Council
- Buckinghamshire County Council
- Reading Borough Council
- Slough Borough Council
- Surrey County Council
- Wokingham Borough Council
Future term dates
The Royal Borough sets its term dates about 18 months in advance.
