Set on the edge of a stunning local nature reserve, the dedicated staff at Braywick Nature Centre create memorable, immersive learning experiences for families, conservation groups and primary schools all year round. We help children and adults to learn about nature through their senses and their creativity, using both traditional and contemporary approaches to nature education.
Find out more about how nature is prioritised in RBWM along with events, volunteering opportunities and news on our RBWM Together page.
Braywick Nature Centre is situated on the south side of Maidenhead Town Centre, on the A308, just 1 mile north east of Junction 8/9 of the M4 - SL6 1UU
History
The nature centre is situated in an old stable block, originally part of the estate belonging to Braywick Lodge.
The 19th century mansion house was demolished in 1969, where the current car park stands, however the stables were refurbished in 1989 to provide a centre for environmental activities in the borough.
The nature centre now houses displays and exhibitions on wildlife, sustainability and local history, and has a large classroom for use by schools and other groups, however, it is only open to the public when events are taking place.
Braywick Local Nature Reserve is open to the public all year round.
Events
We run a range of events and activities at the nature centre and at open spaces, nature reserves and other venues across the borough, ranging from nature walks, holiday activities for children and the famous Braywick Nature Festival.
