Set up a council tax direct debit

Setting up a Direct Debit is simple and easy and is the most efficient way for us to collect your payments.

Setting up a Direct Debit allows you to:

  • choose from 2 monthly payment dates 1st or 15th.
  • pay us automatically, avoiding reminders and missed payments.

Direct Debit Instructions can now be set up online.

All the normal Direct Debit safeguards and guarantees apply when you set up an instruction online. No changes in the amount, date or frequency of a payment can be made without notifying you at least 10 working days in advance of your account being debited.

If a direct debit instalment is recalled by your Bank or Building Society the Council will collect this on the next available payment date unless the amount is paid by alternative methods.

Should two consecutive instalments be recalled the direct debit instruction will then be cancelled.

You have the right to cancel a Direct Debit Instruction at any time simply by contacting your Bank or Building Society.
