Context:
Air source heat pumps fall under Renewable Energy in Schedule 2, Part 14 Class G of The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended).
Class G, G2 (a) stipulates installation is not permitted if there are more than I air source heat pump in the same building
Class G, G2(e) stipulates that the air source heat pump is “not permitted when any part of it would be installed within 1m of the boundary of the curtilage of the dwelling house or block of flats” and not permitted
Class G, G3 requires that the air source heat pump is used solely for heating purposes.
If this criteria is not met planning permission would be required.
Request:
1) Has the Council made a policy decision to disregard the permitted development criteria so as to allow the installation of air source heat pumps when the permitted development criteria is not met (and there is no planning permission)?
2) Has the Council provided any guidance on air sourced heat pumps?
3) Has the Council received any complaints in relation to air source heat pumps?
4) Has there been any enforcement action in relation to air source heat pumps?
