Introduction to domestic abuse training course

A Domestic Abuse Awareness training course for RBWM multi-agency professionals, community organisations and individuals.

Please note these dates are only for RBWM based practitioners.

This training course will enable learners to:

  • Develop an understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse
  • Identify additional issues faced by marginalised groups suffering domestic abuse
  • Understand the extent and severity of domestic abuse
  • Understand the reality of living with domestic abuse
  • Identify and recognise possible indicators of domestic abuse
  • Understand the complexities of leaving an abusive relationship
  • Respond effectively to disclosures of domestic abuse
  • Identify local policy, procedures and help available to those affected by domestic abuse
  • Understand how this learning may impact on their own work situation

Target audience: All those in working in within RBWM and who have day to day contact with members of the general public. The training is suitable for those working with both with adults and children at all levels.

Domestic Abuse is an emotive and difficult topic, and while the course will be delivered sensitively, tutors can accept no responsibility for any distress caused.

Charges

There is no cost to attend the session, however a non-attendance/non-cancellation fee may be incurred.

MARAC (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference) and DASH (Domestic Abuse, Stalking, Harassment and Honour Based Abuse) training course

Checklist training course for RBWM multi-agency professionals, community organisations and individuals. 

Please note dates are only for RBWM based practitioners.

This training course will enable learners to:

  • Understand risk assessment in domestic abuse.
  • Explore agency responsibility in relation to risk identification, assessment and management.
  • Know how to complete a DASH Risk Identification Checklist.
  • Feel more confident to work with victims of domestic abuse in a safety focused way.
  • Be aware of the role of the Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA).
  • Understand how to refer into the MARAC, its processes and the importance of proportionate. information sharing and co-ordinated action planning.
  • Gain knowledge of local and national relevant support services.
  • Understand how this learning may impact on their own work situation.

Target audience: All those in working in within RBWM and who have day to day contact with anyone affected by domestic abuse and/or members of the general public whereby disclosure of domestic abuse may take place. The training is suitable for those working with both with adults and children at all levels.

You should have a sound understanding of domestic abuse issues, prior to undertaking this course. Introduction to Domestic Abuse and/or other Safeguarding training are suitable options.
